Sure, there has been Global Warming-- and Cooling-- for eons. In the 1970's we were told that we would experience Global Cooling. The opposite happened. So, then we were told of Global Warming-- with the added warning that WE are causing it and that "carbon" is at fault. We have been warned of imminent catastrophe, that the oceans will rise and engulf us, that major climate and weather changes will occur. Every new storm and flood promotes a flood of blame of Global Warming. But for ten years, we actually had Global Cooling instead. Wags amused us by photographing Global Warming conference venues snowed in, during record cold snaps. So, the Global Warming experts have now retooled and simply became "Climate Change" experts.
Since then, much of the "Warmers'" research and statistics have been debunked. 32,000 scientists signed a petition that man-made "Global Warming" is hokum. A strong correlation of temperature vs solar activity has been documented. Some prominent "Warmers" have recanted, their "science" demolished.
But, in spite of ALL this, folks like Al Gore have actually doubled down......
This would amusing, if it wasn't for the major policy changes which they have driven and enormous costs incurred, trying to solve problems that do not seem to actually exist. Cap and trade is now a reality in California, along with hundreds of other (some draconian) environmental and energy laws now on the books, with more in the pipeline. We are trying to roll most of these back and instead focus on real problems-- problems that might actually have solutions.
With the terrible financial, economic, social and REAL natural disaster problems we have to contend with, it is "silly," as our misguided Bloviator-in-Chief might say, to be focusing on this warming stuff.

Three Industrial Powers Leaving Kyoto Agreement
“It’s over: UN’s Kyoto Protocol Destined for Scrapheap of History.” So reads the headline on the Climate Depot story disclosing that Japan, Russia, and Canada will not join a second round of carbon cuts under the Kyoto Protocol.
And with the United States stating that it will remain outside the treaty, the agreement appears all but dead, according to the Climate Depot website, which chronicles the opposition to global warming alarmists.
Developed nations signed the Kyoto Protocol in 1997, agreeing to legally binding commitments on curbing greenhouse gas emissions blamed for global warming.
Those pledges expire at the end of 2012, and a second agreement would be needed to continue the protocol. But at the recent meeting of the G-8 nations in France, diplomats from Japan, Russia, and Canada confirmed that they would not join a new agreement, AFP reported.
They argued that the agreement did not require developing nations — including China, the world’s leading carbon emitter — to make emission cuts.
President Barack Obama said at the G-8 dinner that the United States would not join the new protocol.
The U.S. signed the agreement in 1997, but in 2001 President George W. Bush said he would not put it to the Senate for ratification.
